Eggnog Smoothie Recipe
I LOVE eggnog, but I hate to look at all the ingredients in the back. I prefer to make fresh things using whole foods. This delicious shake has become a holiday favorite in my house.
This recipe uses fresh almond milk, homemade, frozen banana, dates, a touch of vanilla and spices to reproduce a thick and creamy version of this Christmas gift. Did I say it’s much healthier, too?
This recipe makes approximately 16 ounces, which makes two servings. Of course, I drank the whole lot!
You can add more nutmeg or cinnamon if you prefer, but I found that these are the right amounts for me.
I made a portion with spinach and another without spinach. The shake is just as good with spinach, so why not add a little green?
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 and 1/4 cup of simple almond milk
- 2 frozen bananas, peeled and sliced.
- pinch of ground nail
- 1 date, soaked for 10 minutes.
- 1/2 Vanilla, or use 1/4 teaspoon pure vanilla extract (recommended without alcohol)
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- pinch of sea salt
- 1/2 cup of spinach (optional)
Begin by adding the liquid to your blender (see my blender recommendations), mix at full power for 20 seconds or until there are no more pieces of frozen banana. Garnish with a pinch of cinnamon and nutmeg if desired.
