Shamrock Shake Green Smoothie Recipe
It is at that time of the year when we all have the need to drink something green and pretend that we are all Irish.
While I’ve had a green beer before, it’s not my thing! Absolutely!
But I love this bright green and super healthy Shamrock Shake! So here is the recipe.
I used frozen bananas to give this green smoothie a “smoothie” consistency.
It has a little mint flavor, and the avocado gives it a nice, creamy texture and some heart-healthy fats.
Do not worry about the spinach that dominates the smoothie. You cannot even prove it.
By the way, the clover is really edible, like many other “weeds” on the lawn. It is also an important food for pollinating insects such as bees and bumblebees.
- 5 to 15 fresh mint leaves (this depends on how large your leaves are)
- 1 frozen banana, peeled and sliced
- 2 small handfuls of fresh baby spinach
- 1/4 avocado, peeled
- 8 ounces homemade almond milk
Begin by adding the liquid to your blender followed by the soft fruit.
Add the greens to your blender at the end.
Mix at high temperature for 30 seconds or until the shake is creamy.
Tips for using frozen bananas: remove the peel before freezing the bananas. When you are ready to make this green shake, remove it from the freezer and cut it with a large knife before adding it to your blender.
Cutting the banana into smaller pieces helps to mix it more thoroughly.
