Do you like lime pie as much as I do? How about a vegan liquefied alternative that tastes the same as the real one, but is also made with healthy ingredients?

This recipe prepares a delicious dessert shake that uses only fresh, whole fruits and almond milk! It is easy to do and will surely become a favorite.

I think the avocado and almond milk help to give the flavor to the “pie dough”, while the limes and the banana add the key flavor to the lime.

This shake is not nutritionally dense like the green shake recipes I share, but it’s VERY tasty and worth a try. Hey, it’s a fun shake so enjoy it as a gift.

Key Lime Pie Smoothie Recipe: Ingredients

  • 1 key lime or 1/2 regular lime, peeled and deseeded
  • Vanilla from 1 vanilla bean or use 1/4 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 4 ounces of fresh almond milk
  • 1 small half-frozen banana, peeled
  • 1/4 avocado, peeled and pitted
  • 1/2 teaspoons maple syrup, pitted and soaked for 20 minutes

I use “half-frozen” bananas, meaning frozen bananas that have had time to thaw a bit (but not all the way) before you blend them. This improves the key lime pie texture of the smoothie.

Begin by adding the liquid to your blender, followed by the soft fruit. Mix at high temperature for 30 seconds or until the shake is creamy.
